Empowering Women Featuring Rose Siard!

If Rose Siard looks familiar to you it’s probably because you just saw her in Sephora stores all across the U.S. as she was chosen for the latest Color Curators for the month of August with Formula X, Rose has pretty much made one of her many dreams come true at the young age of 27. But Rose is more than just a phenomenal self taught makeup artist, she has a list of awesome talents that started way before her must see makeup tutorials on Snapchat!

When I first came across Rose I was googling new ways to apply makeup because what I was trying simply was not cutting it! One of Rose’s YouTube videos popped up and I found myself relating to her personality because she’s just one of those genuine down to earth people that everyone just likes to be around, which is why she has thousands of followers on Twitter , Instagram , YouTube , Facebook and SnapChat (makeuprosexo).

Personally for me, I always struggled with makeup choices, which brands and what goes where? I even stopped trying, you could say I fell into a slump! Yep, I became an eyeliner and lip-gloss type of girl, because I was just to overwhelmed with all the rest.  Once I started watching Rose literally start from scratch, and achieve all these awesome looks, I was like “ hey, I can do that”. Rose being the personable gal she is, will literally answer your questions, give her advice and genuinely cares about her followers. If you are an avid follower already, you probably know the ongoing joke about her grocery store glam visits and her favorite Starbucks coffee. Seeing her achieve so much in her twenties really put things in perspective for me as I approach my 40’s. If you have dreams…achieve them, if you have faith… nothing can really stand in your way!

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to ask Rose a few questions about her journey! I have one word! Empowering!

Question #1

M: I know your first pride and joys are your sweet fur-babies and your husband Ben. Tell me a little bit about each one and your closeness to Doug. I love how he can go with you everywhere and is also featured in your Formula X ad?

Rose: My fur babies are so precious to me. Judah is my big boy and Jazzy is my little girl kitty babies. Judah is always helping me open my packages, maybe he just wants my boxes and Jazzy explores after the packages are opened, maybe she wants my makeup. Douglas is the sweetest little guy. He never leaves me, he goes from room to room and from state to state with me. He’s very talkative and loves when I sing but he doesn’t like anyone to clap after I perform a song. We think he thinks the clapping is going to harm me. He wasn’t suppose to be in my Formula-X campaign, he sort of kept sneaking in and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the images Formula-X picked.

M: You and Ben are so adorable. I think that it’s so beautiful that you met so young and have built such a strong bond. You two make beautiful music together along with great chemistry. Tell me a little bit about meeting the love of your life so young and the music you make together? How did that come about?

Rose: When I was fourteen I told my Mama I was ready to find my husband and grow up with him, she told me to pray, I did and two weeks later there he was and I knew he would belong to me forever. About six months later we were writing and performing music together for a living. We combined our income and bought everything we needed for our music career. Four years later we married and are still writing and performing plus working together on all of our other endeavors we find ourselves in.

Question #2

M: Let’s get to the fun beauty questions! I know you mentioned being self-taught, but you have a gift of artistry and technique when it comes to makeup, your tutorials are honestly the best! When did you realize that you had this talent and how does it feel to have your very own personalized nail polishes with a huge brand like Formula X? Which other brand would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Rose: When I was around nine years old I started reading magazines, Elle, Instyle, Vogue, I loved the fashion and makeup so I bought a few books on makeup, Kevyn Aucoin and Bobbi Brown and would pull them off my shelf about once a month to read and look at the makeup images. I wore very little makeup until my sister told me to get an app called Instagram, I did and she would ask me to post pictures when I would do my makeup for a singing gig, I never thought it would lead to this. When I was contacted to collaborate as a color curator with Formula-X, I really had no idea what it meant except I loved their nail polish and had only used it from the time when I found it in Sephora. I was and still am very honored to be chosen as one of Formula-X’s nail polish curators.

There is about 10 brands I love and they are all well known and to be asked to work with any of them would be a dream come true.

Question #3

M: I love your Turbans, they are very unique and elegant. Please tell me how this idea came about, your style and where the inspiration came from?

Rose: My turbans came about as a necessity. The design is from one of my favorite eras, Old Hollywood, with a touch of new style with the bow and the turban has more volume on top. I decided to to design it because you know those little hairs around your face that tickle and annoy, well I asked my Mama if I designed a turban would she make it, she did and the rest is history.

Question #4

M: Rose you are so young and have experienced a lot of success already but what are your goals over the next 5 years?

Rose:  In the next five years I would like to be on the music charts with at least one number 1 song. I also want to have campaigns with all ten of my favorite brands.

It was so nice getting to know more about this amazing young lady, she is truly someone that has empowered me to keep going for my dreams. She gave the best advice in her “Get to know me video” on her YouTube! “If you have a dream, go for it… whatever you love, grab that and do not let go. Do whatever you can to do that!”
