Valentines Day is considered a happy and loving holiday! Although the story of St. Valentine says that he was put to death because he married couples against the ruling of Emperor Claudius II. That’s not so loving…. But when I think of this day and what it has meant to me over the years. I would always try to make it about showing others how much they mean to me. Friends, Family, or my significant other, depending where I was at in my life I’ve always celebrated this holiday in some type of way!

Some ideas to make this the best out of Valentines Day is spreading the love! When I was in my early 20’s and was not in a relationship, I would still get together with my best girlfriends and we would either go out and have dinner or plan a fun Girls Night In!

After I had my daughter and it was just us two, we would celebrate by baking heart shaped cakes and eating heart shaped pizza together! She has always been my #1 Valentine! But we all hope to find that one special person that you can share your life with and call your Valentine forever and always. That finally happened to me in the most unexpected way.

When I met my fiance we were in our early 20’s and still figuring out life some 15+ years ago, (see young us in the pic below). He actually gave me that vase with roses and a card that just said “I love you” on our very first Valentines day! Well life happened and we ended up growing a part and I moved away from Texas and that was it, we both moved on with our lives.

Fast forward 12 years later I was packing up my house and ironically making plans to move my daughter and I back to a place I always loved…Texas. When packing and cleaning out old stuff I came across the gift I had received… the vase and card. I was kind of surprised I kept it all of these years, I must have packed it and kept with my things that I moved over the years. But I kept it for some special reason.

To make a long story short. While moving back to Texas I reconnected with my one & only and on Valentines Day 2016 he bought a ring and asked me to get married a few weeks later. It was unexpected, but a piece of my life that I always felt was missing.

I truly believe that Valentines day is meant to celebrate anybody in your life. And if your looking for true love, it will find its way to you one day. Or in my case, find its way back to you!
